At Monday night’s Brookings School Board meeting, Superintendent Summer Schultz was formally recognized for receiving the South Dakota School Superintendents Association’s (SDSSA) Innovator of the Year Award.
The award honors a superintendent who demonstrates exceptional leadership in developing new programs or initiatives that positively impact staff development, recruitment, and retention, or create meaningful, lasting improvements in student learning and educational experiences.
Dr. Schultz earned the distinction for her forward-thinking approach and commitment to enhancing education across the district. Her efforts to implement innovative strategies have not only supported staff and students but also helped build a culture of growth and excellence throughout the Brookings School District.
The SDSSA’s Innovator of the Year Award is part of an ongoing effort to celebrate educational leaders who are reshaping the future of learning in South Dakota through creative and impactful initiatives.
