Mickelson Middle School went into a shelter-in-place for a health emergency on Friday, February 2, 2024. We use the shelter-in-place anytime that we need to keep the hallways clear for emergency personnel, anonymity, giving space, etc. Students at Mickelson Middle School were not in any harm's way. We appreciate how the students and staff handled the event.

Please see the attached information on The Child and Family Resource Network's Common Sense Parenting class being offered in Brookings.

During the 7th period, the fire alarm accidentally went off at Mickelson Middle School. All students and staff were evacuated as this was not a practice drill. Once it was deemed safe to enter all students were allowed back in. Students were outside for roughly 10-15 minutes. 8th-grade students were at lunch during the time and were given more time to eat. Thank you to all of the staff and students who treated this situation with the respect it deserved! Have a wonderful weekend!
