I want to welcome all our families to the 2024-2025 School Year. Your partnership and support are vital to our success, and I appreciate the trust you place in us to educate and nurture your children. Now, in my second year as your superintendent, I am more committed than ever to ensuring that each student in our district receives the best possible education and experience.

This year’s later-than-usual start date was necessary to accommodate two major building projects. Fortunately, the weather cooperated, giving students warm days during the extended break.

This fall, we are thrilled that Brookings School District will open the state’s first licensed, full-day Pre-K program in a public school district. This achievement resulted from our strong partnership with the Boys and Girls Club and the Brookings Economic Development Corporation.

We are also working to designate priority areas in other schools needing attention. First on the list is a boiler upgrade at the high school. Another area of focus is the high school science department. Upgrading them will enhance and support our students by incorporating the latest scientific advancements and ensuring safety.
