Registration Session with BHS Counselors: November 15 at 2:15 pm in the BHS Commons. Please attend with your device.
Spring Dual Credit Deadline: December 16 by 3:25 pm.
ALL application materials must be completed by this date - student application, online signature process from student and parent/guardian, and submitted to student's school counselor.
DUAL CREDIT
Dual credit is an opportunity for high school juniors and seniors who meet admissions standards to enroll in public postsecondary institutions in South Dakota and simultaneously earn credits for both their high school diploma and postsecondary degree or certificate.
Through a program approved by the South Dakota Legislature, dual credit coursework is available to high school students in grades 11-12 at the rate of $50.84 per credit. Students are responsible for the $50.84 per-credit cost and any required textbooks or related course materials.
Students can choose from on-campus, online classes and courses offered at Brookings High School. Please contact your school counselor for course advising.
Students are responsible for all Tuition & Fees for Online Courses.

Online Dual Credit Course Info (Meeting is 11/15)
REGISTER FOR DUAL CREDIT
Follow these steps to register for courses offered through South Dakota Board of Regent institutions.
Step 1: Are you eligible?
High school SENIOR eligible to enroll in a high school in South Dakota:
Earn an ACT composite score of 21 reflective of the 50% percentile; or
Rank in the upper one-half of their graduating class; or
Earn a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale
High school JUNIOR eligible to enroll in a high school in South Dakota:
Earn an ACT composite score of 24 reflective of the 70% percentile; or
Rank in the upper one-third of their graduating class; or
Earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
***Students taking a dual credit Math or English class will need to meet additional requirements in order to be eligible to enroll.

By completing the dual credit process, you and your parent/guardian are agreeing to the dual credit expectations and guidelines outlined in this document.

You will need an access code for the application. The spring 2025 application access code will be given out at the Dual Credit Meeting on 11/15!

Step 5: Confirmation Email
Once registration is complete with the university or technical school, students will receive a confirmation email. Follow the directions and deadlines in the confirmation email carefully! Directions will be provided by the college for setting up your email, ordering textbooks, paying for the course, accessing your course, etc.
Step 6: Start the Course
Please note if you are taking a computer course, ensure you know what the technology requirements are needed.
BHS has no control over any situation that you have with college classes. You are enrolling in a college-level course, Professors will treat you like a college student.
Neither BHS nor your Parent/Guardian will receive grades or feedback from your Professor throughout your course, it is your responsibility to log in, complete assignments, and communicate with your Professor directly.
Your final grade will be reported to BHS at the end of the term and will be posted to your transcript.
WITHDRAWAL FROM DUAL CREDIT COURSE
BHS - You will need to meet with your school counselor should you wish to withdraw from your dual credit course.
Please note: you will receive a withdrawal fail (WF) on your high school transcript, which will reflect on your GPA.
University/College - In addition to notifying BHS, you will need to reach out to your university/college to complete a withdrawal form. Each institution has its own withdrawal date deadline, so please be sure you are checking for those dates.
Please note: A Withdraw (WD) will stay on your college transcript and count against the total number of WD you can have in college.

DUAL CREDIT TRANSFER CREDITS
Transferology: nation-wide network designed to help students explore their college transfer options. Students can learn if their courses will transfer by adding coursework, exams, and/or military learning experiences to see how many schools in the Transferology network have matching courses that may be awarded when they transfer. When in doubt, contact the institution/program you intend to enroll in for clarification on transfer credits.
DUAL CREDIT TRANSCRIPTS
If an official transcript is needed from the college of record, you will need to order a transcript. There is a fee for ordering official transcripts. We recommend sending transcripts after all dual credit courses are completed.
Note: If you are taking dual credit through a BOR school:
If you’re attending the school you took the class(es) from -No transcript needed
BOR School to BOR School (Example: USD to SDSU) – No transcript needed
BOR School private school (Example: USD to Augie)– Transcript request required
BOR School to out-of-state school (Example: USD to ASU)– Transcript request required
BOR School to technical college (Example: USD to Southeast Tech)– Transcript request required
Dual credit through multiple schools (Example: SDSU & USD) – Only one transcript needed, it will list all courses on one transcript
